Molly’s Birthday coincided with burlesque legend Dixie Evans, whose 85th was being celebrated with a risqué show at the Royal Resort. We decided to end the summer in style by having a staycation to fully take advantage of the midnight pool party and invite some friends over.
The rooms at the Royal have been redone in the last few years, and are pretty affordable, averaging $99 a night. The best feature is the sliding door and mini-balcony (that faces the pool if you’re on the good side).
The burlesque show was held on a temporary stage in the downstairs bar area and featured about a dozen ladies (a few that we think we saw at Tiki Oasis earlier in the summer). One dancer made herself a martini as part of her routine; pretty classy.
Although the hot tub was shut off after 10pm (somewhat annoying), the pool party was still a fun way to end the night. I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking …
