Fashion Alley by Fashion Lab

The Fashion Alley event (part of MAGIC) transformed the downtown alley behind the Beauty Bar into a catwalking cocktail party complete with fashionably dressed lads and ladies. The rain put a slight damper on the night, but it slowed to a stop in time for entertainment from DJs Ladyfingers and Kid Conrad, and Red Eye Radio, the latter spending the night playing convincing covers.

The free drinks, models and fashions were terrific, but the highlight of the night was the video shot by Downtown Films (who collaborated with Fashion Lab) screening on the alley wall. The film depicted the process of cleaning the alley and getting it ready for the delicate tread of Pradas and Jimmy Choos. Professionally shot and edited, it featured the flambéing of many cockroaches unearthed from a manhole as well as a number of less disgusting process-based sequences…always fun to watch.
