A good turnout of classic car lovers, greasers and gals showed up at Hi-Rollers Barbershop Sunday, October 7 for a silent auction of hand-painted skate decks. The event, called “Kulture C-Art,” was hosted by Martin “The Barber” Corona who recently moved into the barbershop spot near the Huntridge Theater.
Music maestra “DJ Maybelline” spun primo rockabilly cuts and cult classics keeping the pretty ladies groovin’ and the decked-out-dudes gawking.
Jewelry makers, artists and bakers at the event included: El Vaquero Muerto, Poison of Choice, Zombie Cakez, and The Rebelz. In total, 37 decks, painted mostly by local tattoo artists, were auctioned or raffled off with 100% of the proceeds going to the National Kidney Foundation. “We had a lot of support from the Vegas tattoo shops and artists,” said Corona, himself a transplant recipient in 2007, “I want to thank everyone for showing up and making this event happen.”
