About ArtsVegas
The ArtsVegas story began back in the fall of 2009, when founders David Hardy and Molly O’Donnell set out to digitally document their adventures in Las Vegas, in the form of a visually-driven and designed website written from a unique perspective: two outsiders looking for art and culture.
We realized early on that we had stumbled on something special, and this had the potential to be so much more than just another blog.
In the beginning, Molly and David ran on pure adrenaline, covering shows, events, and art openings … and writing about them in the late-night hours and early mornings before work and academic studies. Many people didn’t realize that two of us were doing the bulk of the work, since the site was updated on an almost daily basis.
Over the past two years, the site has grown organically to include a diverse group of writers, designers, photographers, and videographers passionate about art and burgeoning culture in Las Vegas.
The highly-visual and feature-rich aspects of the website, and our Thursday “weekly issue” emails deliver a consistent presentation of our content. But, what really separates ArtsVegas from the commercially focused alt weeklies is the unique space we operate in.
Whereas the print-focused magazines here in Las Vegas lean towards the strip and commercial offerings, we seek out the offbeat venues, pop-up performance spaces, and shoestring productions that really make this the Wild West.
Las Vegas is happening right now, and if you don’t know about it, it’s our mission to inform you, taking your hand and thrusting you onto the dance floor. Trust us, you’ll thank us later.
